MOVIE REVIEW: Endless Love

This Valentines Day my best friends and I decided to go see a romantic movie together considering we are all single! And we happened to choose the movie released on Valentine’s Day; Endless Love.

It was a great Valentines Day movie starring Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde. They actually make the most gorgeous couple. Since I had last seen Alex in action at the movies, he had changed and grown as a person and has gotten even better looking as time passed by. So there was definitely some great eye candy for us girls! It actually made the movie a little more realistic that the female lead role was not as well known. I think that if they had cast a lead female that was very much in the spotlight it would have seemed more unrealistic and would not have been as great. I was really impressed by Gabriella as the female lead and I cannot wait to see her stunning face popping up more and more.

I don’t want to go into the plot much because I would hate to accidentally give anything away; but lets just say it ends pretty well! From the trailer I gathered that it would be a really romantic film between two young characters however there was actually a lot more drama than I expected. There was also quite a lot of turmoil and a bit of suspense towards the end.

I gave this movie 4 out of 5 stars..but it probably helped that I was seeing a romantic movie on the most romantic day of the year! Definitely check this one out guys!

Check out the official trailer on the Endless Love website here;

I am sorry that this is a short post but I really wanted to do something Valentinesy and I thought that this would be perfect!

Lots of Love,

MAKEUP ESSENTIALS: Bargains Under $20

The perfect university budget post; just for you guys!!!! BARGAIN BUYS UNDER $20! So I thought that I would put together some of my favourite drugstore products which also happen to be absolute bargains at under $20 each. You could grab some of these to try or you could even grab these items as a starter kit. It just so happens that I have basically grabbed the perfect items to start a kit out of. I have covered; primer, concealer, foundation, mascara and also a little lippy.

I would love to hear from you guys of your favourites under $20 or even your very own starter kits! Here goes!

Savvy Smooth Finish Primer (Translucent)- only $8.99 @ Priceline (a.k.a Complete Bargain!)

First is this primer. The primer comes out as an in between of a gel and cream; if that makes any sense at all! You don’t need very much of it either! It goes on really smoothly and I find that even after wearing makeup all day my skin feels really good if I have applied this first. After my morning skincare routine I apply this after moisturising. Click this link for my skincare routine! When I first really got into makeup I had a Napoleon Auto Pilot Primer; which I had purchased after getting my makeup done for an event. I really really loved this primer but could not afford to purchase it over and over again. I have been searching for a while and have tried a few other drugstore primers but this one is by far my favourite and its basically the cheapest you can buy…how brilliant! I apply this by squirting out a small amount onto my fingers and then rubbing my fingers together. I then apply it in sweeping motions from the middle of my face to the outer edges.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory- only $14.95 @ Priceline I have been absolutely in love with this concealer for a while. It goes on so beautifully and creamy and blends really well. I would say that its probably more of a medium coverage and sometimes it doesn’t completely cover those pesky big surprise pimples completely, but it is so perfect for around the nose, under the eye and any other red areas I have at the time. Definitely give this one a go! Although Rimmel if your reading this…more colour variation pretty please!!!

I usually apply this concealer with my fingers on my problem areas, blend a little with my finger and then go over with a blending brush to ensure it is fully blended.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Ivory- $19.95 @ Priceline

I had watched and read so many bloggers raving about this product that I just had to give it a go…and I have not been disappointed! It is creamy, smooth and like its baby the concealer (above), blends so well. I am quite pale skinned and the Ivory shade of this foundation is nearly a perfect match; and that is hard to find in a drugstore…trust me! Weirdly the Ivory concealer and Ivory foundations are slightly different colours but close enough that a bit of blending does the trick! If you are looking for a new drugstore foundation or not….go buy this now! It is the product closest to the $20 mark that I am featuring but truly is a must buy!

I apply one to two pumps (depending on the occasion) of product onto the back of my hand and then use a foundation brush to sweep over my face. After i have finished applying where I want it (face and neck) I use the same blending brush that I use with my concealer to make sure it is completely blended into my face.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara in Extreme Black- only $16.95 @ Priceline (but sometimes they have $10 specials; so look out!)

This mascara is gorgeous!! It is ultra black and hardly ever clumps! Tick, tick in my book! I love the range of mascara’s the Rimmel has and this one is absolutely perfect for those nights out or times when you want big and bold lashes! For a mascara it is pretty cheap too!

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in 420 Coral Pop- only $16.95 @ Priceline

I have already done a post including this lipstick before; but I had to include it in this post because it is definitely a bargain beauty buy under $20!

Maybelline has really hit the mark with their range of Colour Sensational Lipsticks! They are affordable and are truly great lipsticks! The colours are vibrant and quite long-lasting too! And can I just say this colour is perfect for the summer months. It is quite a soft corally pink and goes with so many things!!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and have maybe even discovered some great products for bargain prices!

One last thing before I go! I want to introduce you to my newly adopted mate; my little boy Oscar! As you can see he had heaps of fun helping me take my pictures today!

Lots of Love,

Hi all,

So I know it is already the 5th of February but I just had to squeeze this post in, even if it is a little late!

Here are some of my favourites items from the month of January! Enjoy!

Australis Jumbo Mineral Bronzing Powder in “Bronze Ambition”- only $16.95 @ Priceline.

This big thing is the perfect big pan bronzer. It is a big one and just fits in my hand which is perfect! Since it’s summer in Australia at the moment, I have been using this on its own for some colour on my cheeks to make my pale skin look a little more tanned! It does not take much of this product on your face to add enough colour which is both time-saving and cost effective! A must have!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Mascara “Retro Glam”- only $16.95 @ Priceline (but they are $10 at the moment with a sale!)

This was my must have and must wear mascara for January. We had a few very hot days in January, around 40 degrees Celsius (or 104 degrees Fahrenheit), so i have been in and out of water a lot; the beach and swimming pools. This mascara came in very handy for those days when you went to someones house and had a dip in their pool or just wanted to wear mascara for the day but did not want to worry about having panda eyes! If you live in Australia and near a Priceline, I suggest swinging round and grabbing this beauty while its on sale, because I am sure we have a long and hot summer still ahead!

Real Techniques Powder Brush- only $19.99 @ Priceline

I have already featured this particular brush in both my “Summer Essentials” and “Makeup Essentials: Brushes” posts follow those links if you want to read more.

But I just had to mention it again! It is my holy grail of makeup brushes and has not disappointed me over the month of January. I use it all the time for a quick touch of bronzer or a more full summer face of makeup with my Nude Mineral Powder in Medium.

If you have not already purchased this brush; now is the time!

Rimmel Glam Eyes Mono Eyeshadow in 102 Backstage- $10.50 @ Priceline (some other colours are only $5.25 @ Priceline!)

Although this one is a little expensive considering you only get one eyeshadow, it is quite a big size and is a great go to product for the summery months with its light shimmery golden brown shade. It is also the perfect size to fit in a purse or clutch for retouching while you are out and about.

I have been using this one quite often in January as it is easy and quick to apply and adds the perfect amount of colour to my summer looks. I usually swipe it onto my lid with my finger and then use my Real Techniques Shading Brush to blend in the outer edges.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder- only $12.95 @ Priceline (absolute bargain!…it lasts forever!)

I cannot believe that I am yet to have done a review or mention this product. It is honestly my holy grail of drugstore makeup products. I don’t know if you can tell but I have used it so much that the lid has cracked and the print on the lid has basically worn off! If you are still wondering what this product is, its a finish for your makeup.

You apply all of your face makeup as normal (primer, foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush) and then sweep this all over your face with a big fluffy brush; I use my Real Techniques Powder Brush (above) for this. It acts as a seal and keeps your face from looking oily and makes your makeup last for the whole day! It is great for if you are going out to a club or a party or for wear for a whole day or school, university or work. It really just keeps your face together!

Please rush out and buy this right now!!! I initially found this product through youtube and makeup artist extraordinaire Tanya Burr ( #checkherchanneloutnow! Since finding this amazing product I have not looked back!

I thought I would also talk about a couple of my non-makeup favourites of January too!

Attack Crop Top- only $19.95 at Cotton On Body

Recently I have joined a local gym, and besides the fact that I am suprisingly loving working out, I am also loving buying different colourful outfits for the gym!

These two pieces are sports crop tops with built in bra support. I like wearing them under a tank top to add some colour and pattern to my workouts! I grabbed these two together for a bargain $30!

Cotton On Body has a great range of cheaper workout wear and is the perfect place to look when you join a gym or want to be more active. If I feel good in the clothes I am wearing I find that I do a better workout! So get down to your local store and grab a few items, look out for those sales or 2-for-1 specials too!

Check this link to see if there is a store near you!

Cotton on Playsuit in Black and White- I think it was only $29.95 from the Cotton on Outlet at Southern Cross Station, Melb.

The last of my January Favourites is this gorgeous black and white printed playsuit. It is the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe and can easily be dressed down for a casual look during the day or can be dressed up for the perfect summer night look!

I found it very hard to find a playsuit that I fell in love with but this one jumped out at me straight away! I love black and white and so this was my perfect playsuit.

I hope you have enjoyed my January Favourites post! Feel free to comment or reply with the products you have been loving in the month of January!

Lots of Love,

Hi beauty lovers,

This week I thought that I would post about my favourite lipsticks for summer! Up until a few months ago I wasn’t much of a lipstick lover, but when summer started here in December I started buying more and more and now I am obsessed!!

I am loving very summery pinks and corals at the moment.

Here are a few of my absolute favourites…

876 Lovers Smooch by Colour by TBN.

This one and the other lipstick I will be posting about from Colour by TBN were both in a little basket selling for only $2.50 each at a discount chemist. They aren’t the best lipsticks in the world but they are both vibrant in colour and go on nicely.

This one is a beautiful bright pink and looks stunning on. I like to wear it with a plain outfit to add colour to the look.

12 Sky Pink by Revlon

This lipstick is such a gorgeous subtle pink. With a soft swipe it adds a small amount of very subtle and light colour to your lips. Or you can put on a bit more for a more obvious but still soft pink colour. This one is perfect for everyday summer use or those days where you are wearing a bright outfit and want a more subtle lip.

I purchased this one from a discount store at a Direct Factory Outlet center in Melbourne and from memory I think it was about $20. Well worth it though!

882 Kiss Me Under The Mistletoe by Colour by TBN

This one is a much lighter pink than its sister above (876 Lovers Smooch) and also has more of an orange undertone, rather than pink. I would say that this one is definitely between your classic pinks and classic corals. For people new to lipsticks this one would be perfect for a first summer lipstick!

Again it was in a basket for $2.50 at a discount chemist.

420 Coral Pop by Maybelline

This one is $16.95 at my local drugstore, Priceline, but I always keep an eye out for specials. Sometimes they have 3 for 2 or a sale similar and these really come in handy! This one is probably my favourite at the moment! It is the most beautiful pinky-orange shade and surprisingly goes with so many things, first looks can be deceiving! It is the most perfect summer colour.

(From left to right: 876 Lovers Smooch Colour by TBN; 12 Sky Pink by Revlon; 886 Kiss Me Under The Mistletoe by Colour by TBN; and 420 Coral Pop by Maybelline).

Before I go I thought I would just mention some lip liners that I picked up recently. I have always wanted some standard colour lip liners for those days when I need super long wear out of my lipsticks and Australis had the best colour range out of all of the brands in the whole of my local drugstore!

These liners were only $8.95 each and I purchased three, a bright pink, standard red and nude. They go on incredibly smoothly and are very long lasting! Definitely give them a go if you are looking for some lip liners!

Unfortunately Australis is only available in Australia at the moment.

I hope that you have all enjoyed this post and please feel free to leave a comment or your opinion on these lipsticks or your own favourites!

Lots of Love,

EYESHADOW REVIEW: Colour Tattoo by Maybelline

Hi all!

I am a massive fan of eyeshadow and these little babies are definitely must haves for your collection!

(from left to right: 35 Tough as Taupe, 45 Bold Gold, 25 Bad to the Bronze and 15 Audacious Asphalt)

Maybelline promotes its Colour Tattoo eyeshadow range as long lasting, vibrant and super saturated colour, that will not fade#. It sounds too good to be true but thankfully its not! These beauties are most definitely long lasting (sometimes its even difficult to get them off at the end of the day!), vibrant and have non fading colour. I use these either on their own or as a base to which I then build on with other shadows.

On their own its as easy as dipping your finger in and swiping it across your eye lid. If you want a more blended look you can either use your finger for rougher blending or use a brush such as the Real Techniques “shading brush”. I like doing this if I want to add a quick bit of colour to my look or if I have limited time before I have to get out the door.

They also double as brilliant bases. If I have a bit more time on my hands or am going out and want to do a more full-on eye, I love to use these as a base and then use other eyeshadows over the top, usually from my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette!

They are a very creamy, almost mousse-like consistency, which makes them easy to blend and also a bit of fun!

So far you will find ten different shades in your local drugstore. At the moment I have four of these. The range includes bright blues and greens and also more neutral shades. I am definitely a neutral shade girl and so as a consequence I have four of their more neutral shades.

25 Bad to the Bronze

This is the first one I purchased and is still definitely my favourite of the four I own. It is the most beautiful shimmery bronze colour and blends to perfectly with my Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay colours.  I cannot explain enough how much I am in love with this colour. I could probably like off this one eyeshadow for the rest of my life!

35 Tough as Taupe

What first caught my attention with this one is that it is more of a matte shade then the others which mostly tend to be quite shimmery. At first glance I thought it was a lighter matte version of 25 Bad to the Bronze, however the first time I used it, when I swiped across the top of the colour it came out a lot darker then I expected. I have not had this happen with any of the other ones though. I still love this one though as you can easily create a matte shadow look or add shimmer with other eyeshadows.

15 Audacious Asphalt

This one is the perfect base for a classic smokey eye. This one is perfect for the winter months or for when you go out, as it is a much deeper and darker colour. It is a beautiful shimmery silver colour.

45 Bold Gold

I finally purchased this one a couple of days ago. These seem to be so popular at the moment that each time I go into my local drugstore their are hardly any colours on the shelves. I have always wanted this shade but it has never been in stock and finally it was, so I just had to snap it up!

It is a gorgeous shimmery gold that is quite bright. It is perfect for an easy summer look but as look fabulous toned down or darkened up with some other eye shadows. Even though it looks very bright do not be scared to give it a go!

At Priceline they cost $11.95 each. You may think that is a little pricey but I totally think that they are worth it. If you are new to eyeshadow and do not really have any in your makeup collection, I suggest giving these babies a go. As I have said they can be easy as one swipe across the lid and you will not have to worry about reapplying or anything like that. The other reason that I think they are worth the price is that they seem to last forever. You use it for a couple of applications and they hardly look as though they have been used!

Also look out for deals at your local drugstore, mine is currently running a 3 for 2 deal on all Maybelline products, so it is the perfect opportunity to add to your collection!

Let me know if you use them or if you buy one and give it a go! I would love to hear what you guys think!

Lots of Love,

beautymarca xx

Favourites from the 2014 Golden Globes!

This year I absolutely loved the fashion and makeup looks that the celebrities wore to the Golden Globes; they all looked absolutely stunning!

My Favourite Golden Globe Outfits…

The winner of best dressed in my eyes; Sophia Vergara. My absolute favourite look. I love the simplicity of the dress but the glamour that is added with the beautiful turquoise necklace. She is such an effortless beauty!

Kate Beckinsale absolutely gorgeous! The shape on her is absolutely perfect and her accessories, makeup and hair absolutely complete the look.

Emily Clarke absolutely stunning dress; the pattern is so flattering and sophisticated and the slit adds some shape to the dress.

Can’t forget the men! Leonardo Di Caprio looking sharp as usual! His style at the Globes reminds me so much of the role he played in The Great Gatsby. Effortless class!

The most gorgeous couple has to go to the beautiful Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan. Jenna’s black and white dress compliments Channing’s suit perfectly. I love the pop of colour on Jenna’s lips which really complete the couple’s look.

My Favourite Golden Globe Makeup Looks…

My favourite makeup look of them all goes to the always stunning Emma Roberts. She looks absolutely flawless and the turquoise earrings absolutely compliment her makeup look. Stunning, stunning, stunning!

Kate Mara’s eyes look so stunning. Its a beautiful softer take on the classic smokey eye and compliments her outfit perfectly.

Emma Watson’s makeup is simple but so elegant and perfectly compliments her dress. The pinky orange lip perfectly matches her dress and the simple eye is perfect for the standout outfit she is wearing.

Australian Margot Robbie’s makeup looks fresh and flawless. The subtle use of bronzer and the pinky nude lip make her look so healthy and fresh and I am completely in love with this makeup look!

The gorgeous Sophia Vergara not only won my favourite overall look of the Golden Globes 2014, but she gets a mention in my favourite makeup looks too. She looks so flawless and the red lip compliments her complete look so perfectly.

Just before I finish off, I want to congratulate Cate Blanchett on her Golden Globe. Being Australian it was great news to wake up too!

I hope that you enjoy this post, please note that these are my opinions and that these are not my original photographs.

Much Love,

beautymarca xx

NEW YEAR; NEW SKIN! (my skincare routine)

I know that many of you will have made a resolution for 2014 and I know that for many it will be to have a clear and healthy looking face! It was definitely my resolution for the past few years!

Up until about a year ago I had quite bad skin. I suffered from constant breakouts and really hated my skin. I have finally found an easy skincare routine that keeps my skin looking clear and fresh and that treats breakouts and I wanted to share it with all of you!

This routine, once you get used to it, takes only a few minutes and is surprisingly fast and easy to do morning and night!

Product Listing:

1. Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes (2x 25 wipe pack $10.99 @ Priceline)

2. Simple Facial Toner ($9.99 @ Priceline)

3. Swisspers Cotton Pads ($3.39 @ Priceline)

4. Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Medicated Gel for Acne ($10.99 @ Priceline)

5. Olay Complete Moisturiser ($14.69 @ Priceline)

This first step is easy as! These are a little expensive but are definitely worth it and you only need one of these wipes per clean. They get all of the makeup and dirt of your face and cleanse the face at the same time. At the drugstore you may find a few different versions of these wipes, I know there is one with mango in it and also an exfoliating one too, but I find that this cleansing one is the best for getting rid of all the yucky stuff on your face at the end of the day, or to simply cleanse the face in the morning. Although it is good to have a pack of the exfoliating ones hanging around in your bathroom to use once a week for getting rid of that annoying dry skin!

Step two is very important. I am always amazed at what the cotton pad looks like after…you think you have wiped of all the makeup off in step one but the toner really gets rid of the hard to budge stuff! I usually use 1-2 cotton pads and squirt the toner generously onto each cotton pad. It says this on the toner bottle, but it is very important that you wipe up your face with the soaked pad; from the bottom to the top. Since I usually have the most trouble with the middle column of my face (the chin, nose and center of the forehead), I start by running the pad from my chin up to the top of my forehead and then move out to the sides of the face. Target your trouble areas with the toner more. The best thing about the Simple Toner is that it lasts forever! There are cheaper homebrand type cotton pads you can buy but I find that the cheap ones leave cotton on your face and fall apart quite easily!

This is the acne killing super cream! This is the only step that you can get rid of if your skin is clear; as it is only needed when you have acne or breakouts, not on clear skin. You only need a very small amount on each acne spot as it is a highly concentrated product and if you put too much on a spot you could potentially mildly burn the area. But don’t worry; it is quite hard to do that! I love this product because I find that it at least reduces the redness or size of the spot pretty much overnight and sometimes I even wake up with the spot gone!

It is very important to make sure that after you have cleaned your face that you put moisture back in. This is done with moisturiser and this one is absolutely brilliant! I have found that many moisturisers make my skin feel horrible and very oily; however this one I am in love with! It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and has the added bonus of being SPF 15+. It isn’t exactly cheap however it is a must try and I absolutely recommend it to everyone!

This routine works so well for me and I hope that it works for you all too! I make sure that I do this routine every morning and night if my skin is bad and at least every night if my skin is looking good. I always make sure that even if my skin is clear that I keep up the routine as I find that if I stop it, my skin tends to breakout again; so keep it up!

I hope that everyone has an absolutely fabulous 2014 and that everyone’s wishes and desires come true!

My Resolution for 2014 is to become the fittest and healthiest version of myself that I can be. I want to go for at least a walk everyday!

Lots of Love and Best Wishes,

beautymarca xx

**Note: I cannot guarantee that this will work for everyone but I truly hope that it does! & all prices are in AUS (Australian Dollars).
